Email marketing remains as one of the most effective online marketing channels today. But there are reasons why some people are receiving good\u00a0sales every day from their mailing list\u00a0while others\u00a0struggle to get their subscribers to take action after reading their emails.<\/p>\n

Here are the 3 important\u00a0fundamentals you must take note of to maximize conversion\u00a0from your emails.<\/p>\n

1. Permission<\/h2>\n
<\/pre>\n

Getting permission from your subscribers is the\u00a0key to effective email marketing.<\/p>\n

<\/pre>\n

Never rent or buy email databases to blast\u00a0offers to people who don’t know you, and have no\u00a0relationship with your business. It is\u00a0costly, ineffective, and worst of all, spamming peoples’ inboxes only\u00a0do more harm than good to\u00a0your reputation in the long term.<\/p>\n

<\/pre>\n

A much better approach is to ask your website visitors or customers\u00a0for\u00a0permission to join\u00a0your mailing list. This way\u00a0your subscribers\u00a0are expecting to hear from you and\u00a0they will be\u00a0more than happy to receive your emails!<\/p>\n

The main challenge of many businesses is getting people to subscribe to\u00a0their mailing list.<\/p>\n

What you can do is to offer freebies to provide\u00a0people with an incentive to join your mailing list. Once you have gotten the necessary permission, the next important step\u00a0is to\u00a0make sure that you\u00a0personalize your emails with the\u00a0name of the email recipient (the small things matter).<\/p>\n

Starting your email with “Hi Patrick, how are you doing” is way better than saying “Hi everyone, how are you doing”!<\/p>\n

<\/pre>\n

People\u00a0will be delighted to receive emails from you that are addressed to them personally. Above all, it makes them feel important\u00a0and it goes a long way towards building rapport with your subscribers.<\/p>\n

Ordinary email providers like\u00a0Gmail or Yahoo do not allow you to send mass personalized emails. And it would be impossible for you to personalize and send emails one by one, especially if you have a large mailing list.<\/p>\n

The third thing\u00a0is to ensure that the\u00a0content\u00a0that you provide\u00a0is targeted\u00a0to the needs of your subscribers.<\/p>\n

If your list comprise of people who are mainly interested in learning forex trading, you don’t want to be promoting products\u00a0like healthy mangosteen juice to this group!<\/p>\n

<\/pre>\n

Over the years, I have seen business owners who blast their clients with irrelevant offers, resulting in\u00a0people unsubscribing from their mailing list.<\/p>\n

<\/pre>\n

Bear in mind\u00a0that\u00a0your\u00a0subscribers are people that lead busy lives and receiving messages\u00a0that are not related\u00a0to what they\u00a0want\u00a0will only appear\u00a0intrusive.\u00a0After all the effort\u00a0that you put into acquiring your subscribers, the last thing you want is to annoy them and lose their business.<\/p>\n

Segmentation also plays an important role here especially when\u00a0you have various\u00a0groups of customers or contacts with different needs. For instance, I have a customer list\u00a0which I send regular updates, a subscribers list\u00a0which I send weekly tips on Internet business, and a business associates list\u00a0which I share business resources. You too, should do the same.<\/p>\n

Implementing the above\u00a0three things will help you to see a higher ROI (Return-On-Investment) over time. Remember, build relationships is the key to success.<\/p>\n

Practice the 3:1 rule \u2013 educate (share useful resources) your list three times before you start to promote something once. Educating and making your subscribers trust and like you is your immediate priority if you want to create a strong income stream from your email list!<\/p>\n
