From Passion to Profit!

I just came back from my weekly BNI Harvest networking this morning and decided to put up this post about one of my Business Associates who I think he is worth talking about =)

His name is Bernard Gay, who is highly passionate in outdoor gears. His company, GreenWerx, focus on delivering solutions that are not only Earth-Friendly but also creative solutions that will solve your problems.

As Greenwerx is one of the Distributors for Brunton, Bernard carries with him all kinds of innovative outdoor gears from touch light (that works with almost all kinds of batteries) to portable battery charger (for your travels or camping to refuel handphones and laptops).  I am so excited this morning when Bernard officially launches his first Clearance Sales for our BNI Harvest members!

Business Blogger Workshop – 17 Apr 2010

Business Blogger Workshop

I have just finished my Business Blogger Workshop yesterday and I am glad to help out more passionate people to start their blogs for their businesses! So you may ask what exactly is a business blogger? To me, someone who shares what he / she knows and monetize these knowledge through a blog is what I call a Business Blogger.

With more and more blogshops appearing these days, you may be surprised to find out that actually there are other profitable methods to earn as a blogger besides selling physical items. I am happy that the participants are so appreciative from my sharing about the 3 proven monetizing models that I shared with them for their blogs without having them to provide their own products or services =)

I would also like to thank Derek and Wei Sheng for helping me out as Co-Trainers yesterday and as well as the Business Bloggers who shared their passion with us from the bottom of their heart!

Why Your Internet Business Is Not Working – Updated with 7 Steps Success Guide!

I posted an entry on why most Internet Entrepreneurs fail at their Internet Business one year ago and now I think this would be a good time to revisit and add some guidelines to improve your Internet Business.

There are many people who started their websites just for a hobby and if you are one of them, you may find the following reasons relate to you. The following are three reasons why I find most people fail to do well over their Internet Business:

No goals, no target, no results…

I used to run more than 10 websites at a time without any goal settings, not to say targets to reach whatsoever. But I figure out that setting a goal is extremely important towards success. One strong reason for setting a goal is that you will be able to track progress. Once you started to track progress, you will know where you are going.. at least. From there, it is much easier for you to shift focus on certain areas to achieve your goals.

Setting goals can be as easy as targeting a specific amount of income coming from your website. For example, I used to set a goal of $300 monthly passive income from Adsense from one of my sites and following that goal, I gain clarity on what are the actions I can take to bring me closer to the target. To elaborate further, assuming now that site is generating $150 from Adsense, the only way to increase the revenue is to either increase the traffic, or increase the click-through via testing all sorts of placement.

I hope you can see how powerful can goal setting be especially in helping you to derive the action plan.

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership – John C Maxwell

John C MaxwellJohn C Maxwell has always been my respected reference for Leadership resources ever since I have read his other books (360 degree Leader and Thinking for a Change). This book that I want to talk about is the 10th anniversary edition which includes two new laws called the ‘The Law of Addition’ and ‘The Law of Picture’.

I am not going to talk about all 21 laws in this post but just 3 laws that makes me think hard after I read the book =)

The Law of Intuition

John admits that this is the hardest law to teach when compared to all the others and frankly, I am not sure if I get it right even after reading the chapter.. But there is this thing that was mentioned in the book that got me into thinking: Continue reading

Introducing June Koh – the Passionate Florist!

I visited June’s shop this afternoon to catch up with her as the last time I dropped by is more than a few months ago.. time really flies! As usual, you can expect to see June busy with activities when you first step into her well-decorated flower shop in Novena. If there is one person you would want me to name who work mainly for passion, June would definitely be on my list! Allow me to introduce June Koh, the Founder of Art and Roses!

We chatted for a quite and I am surprised to find out that she actually did a flower bouquet for the famous action-movie star – Jackie Chan! See how happy is Jackie when he receives the flower from June =)

BNI Lesson #3 – When Your Strength Becomes Your Greatest Weakness

If you have visited a BNI Chapter before, you will most probably be positively influenced by the chapter members especially the way they are so closely bonded. This is especially true for members who have been together for years since the launch of the chapter! I commonly hear feedback from visitors that they wish they were part of this closely bonded group while doing businesses together =)

The purpose of this post is not to share about how great BNI is (although it is =p), but to share and discuss how things may turn up differently when relationships between the members are closer. In fact, I believe that the closeness of the members is the greatest weakness of the chapter. Continue reading

How to get your site unbanned by Google

Google UnbannedMost websites receive a majority of their traffic from Google and getting penalized or banned by them is the last thing we would ever imagine.. Having  said that, there are situations where things are outside of our control such as acquiring a banned domain name for example. If you suspect that your site may has been banned by Google, read on and I will teach you how to have your site appear on Google Search results again.

First, you have to make sure that your site is really banned by Google. A very common mistake made by most people is that they thought a drop in ranking is actually some kind of banning taking place. The truth is decreased in ranking is not concrete enough to say that your site is banned. Search Engine (especially Google) changes their algorithm regularly and it is very common to experience fluctuation in your Search Engine ranking positions (SERP). Continue reading

Singapore Google Analytics Master Class 2010

Singapore Google Analytics Master Clas 2010I have just returned from Singapore Google Analytics Master Class 2010 that was held yesterday on the 09 Mar 2010. I didn’t expect to see such a great turn out and according to Google, they received more than 400 registrations. The actual turn out is about 400 to 500 people (double the size of last year).

I didn’t really have a chance to take camera shots on the event as I met a few business associates including Rachit (one of the Speakers) and Andrew Boey. I have also managed to meet a few contacts who are entirely new to the Google Analytics. Since I am posting about the event, I guess I should share some vaulable takeaways especially if you are running your own sites but rarely use Google Analytics.

What is Google Analytics?

It is simply a tracking tool that tracks your visitors information and how they use your website. Common statistics you can find in your analytics are things like number of visits, duration of visits, bounce rates, traffic sources and top pages that your visitors view. There are a lot more things you can do with Google Analytics.

Most importantly, it is free to use =)

WordPress Blogging Workshop

I am glad with the advancement of technology, everyone now has access to so many tools that one can even create a website without knowing coding anymore! I conducted the WordPress Blogging Workshop last weekend and have shared with the Trainees how powerful is WordPress in helping anyone to create a simple site.

Comparing to Joomla, WordPress is much easier to use and customize. But having said that, it is not the software or design that determines the success of a Blogger. To me, running a successful blog requires:
