I have always been a fan of GetResponse as I have been using them for more than three years. One of the reasons why I love to use them is because they always put themselves in the users’ shoe. For example, if you are recently looking to sign up an auto-responder service, you will have a hard time finding one that comes with free option. GetResponse allows you to do exactly that!

I am glad to share that you can now sign up with GetResponse for a free account. This means that you can send video emails, create online surveys, schedule automated follow-up emails as well as using their professional email newsletter templates free of charge until you reach more than 100 subscribers in your account. I believe this is a great deal for most people especially if you are just starting out and would like to have an opt-in function in your site to let your visitors subscribe to your content or newsletter.

3 Must-Have Plugins for New WordPress Sites

As WordPress becomes more and more popular for people to build websites, plugins for wordpress are also getting a lot of attention. What are plugins exactly? They are actually add-ons that the Bloggers and Webmasters can use to enhance and add functions to their sites easily.

Installing plugins are fun but you may want to minimize the number of plugins as they will slow down your site if you have too many of them installed at the same time. But no matter what you do, there are 3 plugins that all wordpress sites must have. If you are new to wordpress, you should at least install the following plugins:

Contact Form 7

I like this plugin very much (my contact form is powered by contact form 7 plugin) as it not only allows you to create a contact form easily but you can also use this plugin to create sophisticated forms to capture customers’ orders if you need it. This is the most flexible contact form plugin that I have used so far! Definitely a must for all wordpress users. You can install contact form 7 via this link.

Akismet

This plugin comes with the default wordpress installation but you will need to activate it in order for it to work. The purpose of Akismet is to help you filter and delete spam comments. Do not underestimate the power of this plugin! Without this, you will be receiving emails everyday on comments from the spammers.. You would need a Akismet key to activate this plugin. You can apply a key here for free.

Google Analyticator

I believe your purpose of the website is to help you spread awareness about you or your products / services. To do this, you will have to know how many visitors you have per month and how are they viewing your web pages. How they came to know about your site? Where are they coming from? These are just some of the important questions you need to answer in order to design and improve your site for your targeted market.

As a fan of Google Web Analytics, I use the plugin – Google Analyticator to help me install analytics and start tracking my site visitors within minutes! You can download and install Google Analyticator here.

If you do not have time to find the most appropriate plugins for your wordpress sites, then just install the above 3 plugins to get your website going! I hope these information helps!

SEO Sharing Session with Quinnox Solutions

I have recently conducted a 2-day workshop over at Kuala Lumpur on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) with the Quinnox Solutions team. I am really happy to be part of their annual get-together and besides thanking them for the warm welcome, I thought it may be good to use this opportunity to share some of the important points that I have covered in my sharing.

First Thing First

Many companies start on the wrong track by choosing their own keywords to optimize without knowing the demand for those keywords. In SEO, one of the most important things even before you start optimizing is to find out the demand of the keyword terms. For example, if you know that there are 1,300 people searching for ‘Free SEO‘ every month, you have a higher chance attracting your target audience because you know that there are people searching for it.

Quality VS Quantity

Another important aspect of SEO is to develop a strategy so you can attract links from quality sites. SEO used to be a simple task several years ago where many can manipulate the ranking by just creating incoming links from many low quality sites. This method does not work in today’s context especially if you are optimizing competitive keywords.

Having a structured plan to leverage top quality sites to help you boost up your Search Engine ranking is far more relevant nowadays.

Coming back to the workshop I had with Quinnox Solutions, I believe there are many more businesses who needs to understand and better equip themselves with SEO and even Website Analytics. A Post For Networkers

If you know me personally, you may know that I pass along a lot of books to my circle of friends and business associates. The funny thing is that the more books I pass to my friends, the more books I receive!

Before I continue, I just want to thank Chow Boon, for giving me a copy of the book – Masters of Networking, This book is a collection of many popular networking related articles by some of the famous Authors around the world like Mark Victor Hansen, Bill Gates, Jay Conrad Levinson, Bob Burg and many more! I strongly encourage everyone to read this book especially if you are finding a book about networking. This book is a great resource as it sums up most materials out there =)

I am happy to read Chow Boon’s article in this book as well when I received it =) From Chow Boon’s article, you will realise that how important it is to be involved in a structured networking event to generate business activities.

One of my favorite sections is the Discovering Your Networking Style, written by Lilian D. Bjorseth. I found out from this section that I am actually a Supportive Networker! This section comes with some easy-to-do assessment that you can learn more about your networking styles =)

My other favorite section is the Top 10 Networking Traits by Elizabeth L. Misner and Ivan R. Misner. You may be surprised that the top five most important characteristics are:

Follow up on referrals
Positive attitude
Enthusiastic
Trustworthy
Good listener

I have also managed to pull out a YouTube video featuring Dr. Ivan Misner (Founder of BNI) elaborating on the top ten traits. Enjoy the video!

Launch of BNI Prestige Chapter in Singapore!

I am really happy to be involved in the process of helping to launch BNI Prestige Chapter for the past few months! The kick-off day was held on the 06 Oct 2010 and the event was filled with excitement and joy!

The chapter launched with a turn-out of more than 40 members and visitors on Wednesday, with each and everyone of the members busy playing their roles to support the event. That moment affirms me the importance of training and how BNI has helped hundreds or thousands of Professionals worldwide!
